SF Weekly: Your taste for Jack and Coke is pretty well known, and it’s pretty clear from some of your song lyrics you don’t have time for organized religion. You’re currently touring with MEGADETH, a headliner that has a couple of members who are sober born-again Christians.

Lemmy: Well, the great thing about my philosophy is live and let live, you know? I don’t mind if you want to worship the Great Poobah in the sky, as long as you don’t expect me to do it, too. And nobody has so far preached to me on this tour, so it’s alright.

“The reason people use a crucifix against Vampires is that Vampires are allergic to bullshit.”

Brian Johnson of AC/DC

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

Johnson recently came under fire from Christian leaders after he slammed religion as “a waste of time” in an interview with Although he sang in a church choir when he was a young boy, Johnson said, “I don’t believe in religion, let’s put it that way. I believe all religions are bad. I think they’re a waste of time. Jesus was a clever man. He wasn’t the son of God. We all know that he was a very clever, wonderful man and he said, ‘Church is in here, meaning you are your own church.’”

As for why he sang in the choir, Johnson said, “Was it religion? No, it was two shillings and sixpence a week!”

What’s in a name?

Tuesday, December 7th, 2010

A question I get asked frequently is “How do you say the band name? What does it mean?”. It is pronounced “Sar-kah-lug-os”. It is a Latin word which means “christ, the word incarnate”. You may think “Oh what the hell I thought it was evil”, well I used the Latin word intentionally because Latin is considered a dead language, and well…Your Christ is dead and so is the word! I’m witty, so deal with that!

Quote That Makes You Think

“Whoever is a sinner, whoever is unwise, whoever is a fool, and whoever, in short, is miserable, him the kingdom of God will receive.”
